Do you know all the healing benefits from red light therapy?
Let’s talk about it.
Red light therapy, also known as laser therapy, utilizes far and near infrared light waves which have been shown to increase mitochondrial activity, reduce inflammation, and heal and rejuvenate damaged tissues. Red light therapy increases fibroblast activity which helps to increase collagen to heal wounds, joints, and aging skin.
In the 1990s, NASA scientists discovered that light-emitting diode (LED) technology helped promote photosynthesis. The scientists then used near and far infrared light therapy to help increase bone density and muscle mass in astronauts, preventing muscle atrophy and bone loss during space travel.
Red light therapy has been studied for multiple health issues including:
- Healing skin – Regular use of red light therapy can help reduce signs of aging and heal skin damage from the sun, acne, burns, and scars.
- Tendinitis – Red Light Therapy lessens inflammation and pain.
- Osteoarthritis – Red Light Therapy has been shown to reduce pain of arthritic joints by 50%.
- Dental Pain – People with temporomandibular dysfunction syndrome had less pain, clicking and jaw tenderness when treated with red light therapy.
- Hair loss – In a controlled study both men and women with androgenic alopecia grew thicker hair in 24 weeks.
- Dementia – Regular use of near-infrared light therapy on the head has been shown to improve memory, sleep, and mood in people with dementia.
➡️ To be safe, red light therapy devices should not emit electromagnetic frequencies.
➡️ To be effective, red light therapy devices must emit both near and far infrared wavelengths between 600-1000 newton-metres with a light intensity – 100 milliwatts /cm2
I’ve done a lot of research.
I’ve personally used red light therapy to improve collagen and tighten the skin.
Then we found red light therapy to be highly effective at treating neuritis after my husband had surgery. And I used it to treat tendinitis – specifically pickleball elbow. Recently my husband suffered a knee injury. After I did some research and found a large study on the use of red light therapy in the acute injuries of athletes who were able to return to play in less than half the time compared to traditional physical therapy, we used red light therapy on my husband’s knee, which is 62 years old. It healed very quickly.
