What home remedies can be used for perimenopause?
Let’s talk about it.
All women go through the change and most spend 5-10 years in perimenopause. That’s a long time to live with imbalanced hormones. We all want effective remedies to help manage mood swings, hot flashes, and insomnia.
So which home remedies may be helpful to manage perimenopause symptoms?
The first thing that you can do to deal with perimenopause is adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes healthy nutrition, adequate exercise and quality sleep. Nutrition wise consuming plant-based estrogens called isoflavones can help you adjust to lowering estrogen levels. Soy is especially rich in isoflavones. Be sure your diet is plant-based and avoid excess alcohol as it negatively affects estrogen metabolism.
While insomnia can be an issue in perimenopause, being sure you adopt good sleep hygiene habits can help. Shut off your screens after dusk to increase melatonin production. Signal your hypothalamus for nocturnal hormone production by having a regular bedtime and sleep routing. Keep your room temperature between 60 and 67 degrees. Use white noise if necessary.
Perimenopause often means mood swings due to lower hormone production. Stress reduction techniques like deep breathing can help.
Using Gen-Pro® an over-the-counter micronized progesterone transdermal cream, has helped many of my perimenopausal patients regulate their menstrual cycles, manage PMS and mood swings, and help initiate and deepen sleep.
Of course, supporting your hypothalamus nutraceutically with Genesis Gold® can help to mitigate perimenopausal symptoms and ease you into menopause much more gracefully. My Menopause Action Plan book can help you successfully navigate the change so you thrive, not just survive.
