Estrogen Dominance

What is estrogen dominance and what is the role of progesterone? Let’s talk about it.

Estrogen dominance is a condition where a woman produces more estrogen in ratio to progesterone.

In a healthy reproductive cycle, the ovary produces 10-50 times more progesterone than estrogen. I like to think of estrogen as the fertilizer, which helps to grow lush hair, supple skin, and juicy vaginas. It prepares the uterine lining for a period, prepares the breast to help them grow in puberty, and then also prepares them for pregnancy.

But without adequate production of progesterone, everything just keeps growing and sometimes in an abnormal way. Which can lead to tumor production.

Progesterone is like the gardener, knowing the difference between the flowers and the weeds.

In estrogen dominance, the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis becomes dysregulated. Oftentimes, there’s not enough luteinizing hormone to stimulate ovulation which then would stimulate progesterone production.

Progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum, a small cave that is left over after an ovum ovulates. If ovulation doesn’t occur regularly, progesterone is not produced. Without adequate progesterone production, estrogen dominance occurs.

Estrogen Dominance Symptoms

The symptoms of estrogen dominance include:

  • bloating
  • weight gain
  • melasma (which is a darkening of the skin on the face)
  • insulin resistance
  • moodiness
  • heavy periods
  • irregular periods
  • uterine fibroids
  • fibrocystic breast condition
  • anxiety and depression.

It’s important to get your hormones back into balance.

Since abnormal Hypothalamus function is at the cornerstone of estrogen dominance, I recommend supporting your hypothalamus with Genesis Gold®. Usually, within three to six months, estrogen dominance is corrected.

Some patients may still not produce enough progesterone then adding Gen-Pro – a transdermal progesterone in a liposomal base can actually help to regulate menstrual cycles and reverse estrogen dominance.

Gen-Pro

Gen-Pro is a pharmaceutical-grade prescription-strength transdermal progesterone that I have been using with my patients for over 30 years.

It’s now available to you!

For estrogen dominance. I would recommend 100 to 200 milligrams twice daily from the time of ovulation or about the time you see spinbarkheidt – that sticky white egg-like vaginal discharge – for 10 to 14 days.
