Maybe you’ve heard me talk before about having a Menopause Action Plan, or MAP, but you’ve wondered why YOU might need one. Without a MAP, thriving through the change can be very challenging. As an integrative nurse practitioner who’s helped thousands of women through the change, I can tell you that those with a personalized Menopause Action Plan thrive, not just survive the change.
A MAP can be helpful as early as premenopause and through perimenopause. However, even if you’re postmenopausal, having a MAP will help you avoid chronic age-related illnesses and live your best life.
A Menopause Action Plan enables you to deal with the hormonal shifts happening within you during the change.
It also helps you figure out your treatment choices – whether they be pharmaceutical, bioidentical hormones, alternative therapies, or herbal.
A MAP also allows you to assess what your best options are, based on your risk factors, genetics, and lifestyle. Consciously developing your Menopause Action Plan is a gift to yourself. You can then bring your MAP to your health care provider and present a well-thought-out plan on how you want to handle menopause. Think of your MAP as a birth plan. When women create a birth plan during pregnancy, it allows their midwife or OB doctor to help them have the best experience delivering their child.
A MAP will give you the best experience possible while going through the change. To truly thrive, and not just survive the change, you need a Menopause Action Plan. If you want to learn how to create your very own MAP, I recommend reading my Menopause Action Plan book, which is an essential guide to creating your own MAP.
