What are the symptoms of hypothalamic inflammation?

Let’s talk about it.

The hypothalamus is the master regulator of vital physiological processes including energy balance and nutrient metabolism. Hypothalamic inflammation can result from both over and under nutrition. Overnutrition leads to metabolic disorders while undernutrition can lead to death.

Your hypothalamus receives various peripheral metabolic information, like how much body fat you have and what nutrients are available in your bloodstream.

Your hypothalamus controls hunger and satiety signals through gut neurons, as well as gut hormones like ghrelin, cholecystokinin, and glucagon like peptides.

The hypothalamus is key to your metabolism.

But if your hypothalamus becomes inflamed, due to overnutrition, undernutrition, malnutrition, infections, toxins, traumatic brain injury, you may experience multiple symptoms.

  • Appetite changeseither decrease or increase in appetite including unhealthy weight fluctuations.
