metabolizing testosterone

If you want to know what you need to do for metabolizing testosterone safely, whether you are a man or a woman, then you will want to keep reading. Today, I’m going to show you how to metabolize your testosterone safely for either women or men, because we both make testosterone, and we need to metabolize it safely.

Let’s talk about what testosterone does when it is not metabolized safely.

So, testosterone is produced in the male by the testes, and in the female by the ovaries. But the adrenal glands also produce DHEA, which can be converted into testosterone. So we have a couple of different ways we make testosterone. So either the testes or the ovaries, or the adrenal glands, produce testosterone.

Hormone Healing Tip #1: Lower Inflammatory DHT Conversion

Now, testosterone is converted into something called dihydrotestosterone, which is very inflammatory. It is actually what makes the male a male, but it is also what enlarges his prostate as he gets older. It also causes male pattern baldness. Not just for men, but for women. If you are losing hair around these widow peaks, or you are losing hair at the top of the back of your head, and your hair is thinning, that is a very good sign that you actually have too much dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, on board. You are converting too much of your testosterone into DHT.

Now, if you’re having problems with acne, that’s 3-androstenedione, which low-fat diets lower. That is another testosterone derivative converted to DHT from testosterone. That needs to be blocked.

Hormone Healing Tip #2: Block Estrogen Conversion

Now, there’s another aspect of testosterone that can be a little bit of an issue for both men and women, especially for men. Testosterone can be converted to estradiol, or estrogen. Now, for men, that will actually cause what we call male breasts, or gynecomastia, or “man-boobs”. That is not a healthy thing. It is normal to see a little bit of mammary gland enlargement in a pubescent young boy, but within three years that should go away. If it has not, then that means there is too much estrogen conversion from testosterone.

Now estrogen is good for men, you need some. And women, of course, we need it. It is great because it really helps your brain, right? But it will give you more body fat, for males. So it needs to be controlled.

Hormone Healing Tip #3: Supplements to Safely Metabolize Testosterone

So, the three things that you can do to actually help control your inflammatory testosterone, the testosterone that causes hair loss, that causes an enlarged prostate, that causes acne, or body fat, especially around your belly or breast tissue development in males. Number one, you need to first stop the production of dihydrotestosterone. At least limit it somewhat, and the best supplement for that is saw palmetto.

Saw palmetto blocks the conversion at the enzyme level. There are enzymes that actually break down testosterone and convert it into dihydrotestosterone. Saw palmetto can block that. And interestingly enough, saw palmetto can be used by women, too. Women who have too much dihydrotestosterone on board, especially if they’re losing their hair, or have quite a bit of acne, you can use saw palmetto, as well. The dose for males is about 320-640 mg a day. For females, it’s half that, 160 mg a day will be enough to block dihydrotestosterone production.

estradiol
Estrogen

Number two is that you need to block your estrogen conversion from testosterone. You do not want your testosterone to convert into estrogen. Now, for females, what naturally does that is progesterone. Progesterone is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It is a natural 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. In all of my male patients, what I have found that works very well is by giving them a very, very tiny dose of progesterone with their testosterone in the same trans-dermal formula makes a huge difference in preventing them from actually making too much estrogen from their bio-identical testosterone replacement. So that is a key that you can actually use.

Now, what other things could you do?

Well, balance out your hormones by getting enough sleep, by exercising. If you exercise, you work off your testosterone. If you are not exercising, you are gonna start converting it into estrogen and into dihydrotestosterone. By eating a healthy diet that’s not rich in lots of carbohydrates. You want more protein and healthy fats. That will help keep your testosterone where it is, as testosterone. By lowering your stress response.

If your adrenals pump out way too much DHEA because you are stressed out, you are gonna make more testosterone, and women know this because we always see young women with a little more acne when she’s stressed out. That is because she is making too much testosterone from the stress effect from the adrenal. She is making too much DHEA, it is converting into testosterone, it is affecting her skin and causing acne. So lowering the stress response through meditation and breathing exercises, and I have videos on that that you can follow that will actually help lower the stress response.

And also I’ve created Genesis Gold®.

What Genesis Gold® does is it actually provides the plant-based nutrients to keep your hormones in balance including metabolizing your hormones safely. And opening up your receptor sites, so that less hormones that you make as you age actually act as more, and so that you age more gracefully.

So, now that you know what you need to do to metabolize your testosterone safely, it is just not easy if the rest of your hormones are out of balance.
